Northwestern Travelogue

Day 16

September 24, 2005

We are heading home today in sun and 63 degrees this morning. We are about four hours away by way of Yakima, Washington and Snoqualmie Pass. Outside of Yakima we bought a box of peaches for canning. The fruit season is in full swing and we took advantage of it. For lunch we stopped at Snoqualmie Pass in a parking lot by the ski area. There’s no snow yet so the ski lifts were not running.

About two miles east of the pass the road was under reconstruction from where a portion of the mountain side had fallen down two weeks earlier and killed two people. That doesn’t happen very often but when it does I guess your time is up. We breezed by the mess and headed for home.

We arrived home safely and Kitty Kitty was glad to see us. It was a wonderful trip and we are looking forward to another one next summer.
