This is a really easy project that will probably take some creativity on your part. There are a number of ways you can approach and design this project but I'll share what I did to get you started. I used 1/2" veneer plywood. I cut the top 8" X 12" and the support 6" X 11". I mounted the support at the back of the top, 1" in from the edge. I used a 3/4", 1/4-round piece of wood on both sides of the support. I glued and nailed them tight to the support and top. I put the table on my chair and measured for a support on the other side of the chair arm. I made the measurement tight so it will sort of clamp onto the arm. I cut another piece of 1/2" plywood for that support and mounted it the same way as the other one. I didn't cut it as long because it is only clamping onto the chair arm. I rounded all the corners and smoothed the edges. I'm still playing with it a little bit. I think it might have been better if I had made it a little longer but it does work. I also might add a little support between the front edge of the top and the cushion on the chair.
