Plastic Milk Bottle Iris

Here's another really nice looking project for making a Mothers Day present. The nice thing about this Iris is that it looks very real but will last forever.

Here's what you'll need:

  • An empty 1 gallon plastic milk bottle.
  • A blue felt tip marker.
  • A green felt tip marker.
  • Yellow pipe cleaners.
  • A thin wooden or metal stick about 12" long. You can use a skewer for this.
  • Green florist tape.
  • Glue Gun.
Print out the pattern for the flower and leaves from our web site at www.runnerduck.com/images/kc_iris.gif.

Trace the patterns onto the milk bottle and cut out the flower and leaves.
Color the flower with your blue felt tip marker and the leaves with the green felt tip marker. Color both the front and back.
Poke a small hole in the center of the flower.
Wrap the stick with florist tape and add the leaves as you wrap.
Cut three pieces of yellow pipe cleaner about 1" long and glue them from the middle out of the large petals of the flower. Glue the stick to the hole in the flower at the same time.
Bend the large peddles down.

Glue the three small petals together at the top.

Find a small vase and put your flower into it. It's now ready to give to your mom as a beautiful Mothers Day gift that you will be very proud of.
