Much to parents dismay, as children grow up they become more and more curious. One of the things that alwyas interest children are BUGS! This Bug Barn provides a safe little place for them to keep and observe their bugs. This project will probably require a little parental help but that's always fun too.

Here's what you'll need:

• A piece of wood 3" x 14" x 3/4". We used cedar.
• A piece of 1/8" to 1/4" plywood 1 1/2" x 2".
• White Glue.
• Some nails.
• A screw 1" long.
• A piece of screen 6" x 10".
• Some brad nails.

Cut three pieces of wood, (2) 3" x 4" and (1) 3" x 6".
Drill a 1" diameter hole in the center of one 4" piece.
Round the tops of the two 4" pieces. You don't have to do this but we think it looks neater.
Glue and nail the two 4" pieces onto the ends of the 6" x 10" piece.
Cut a piece of 1/8" to 1/4" plywood 1 1/2" x 2".
Drill a clearance hole for the screw in the middle of one of the short edges.
Mount the door above the 1" hole using one screw. Tighten it so that bugs can't get out but you can still turn it to open.
Using the brad nails mount the screen across the top.

That's it! Now get out there and find some bugs. One good way to do that is with an aquarium fish net.
